Unfortunately, the job of 'support worker,' a position similar to the 'volunteer' who works here, belongs to jobs that demand only fairly 'basic abilities.' For jobs that demand only such basic abilities, the British Foreign Office doesn't issue a visa. Unfortunately so. The reason that's quite a reasonable reason is that if they hire foreigners even for this kind of work, the 'jobs' that their own citizens could work at end up shrinking. If it's a case of having a special ability that their own citizens can't replace, the company can say more definitively, 'This person is a special person hard for us to find. We absolutely need this person's such-and-such special abilities. We want to hire this person.'; but this job is something that can be done with no expertise whatsoever, so they say no. So I gave up.
The day to go back isn't far off. To become a full-time employee, I'll probably get a degree, acquire expertise, and then apply again, I suppose. I'm not sure if it'll be so, but at the very least 'expertise' is necessary. There's a reason that cases of getting employed abroad are mostly 'engineer,' 'professor,' 'nurse,' 'doctor.'
I'm writing this at a guesthouse in the early new year.
